Z1 Plus & Z1C: RoonServer 2.71 Compatibility Update

We are pleased to announce a new firmware update for the Z1 Plus and Z1C, providing compatibility with the latest RoonServer 2.71 (Build 1683).

This firmware update adapts the Z1 Plus and Z1C to the latest RoonServer architecture, addresses RoonServer startup compatibility issues, and improves switching between Roon and other audio sources.

How to Update Your Z1 Plus or Z1C

  1. Open VitOS Manager on your phone.
  2. Go to settings and check for a new firmware update.
  3. Install VitOS 1.2.12268 and restart your device.

Important: Please Read Before Reinstalling RoonServer

If you need to retain your existing Roon data or backup, please do NOT uninstall and reinstall RoonServer.

This is particularly important for users who previously upgraded from RoonServer 2.0 to 2.71 and are experiencing an issue where RoonServer will not start.

If you need to preserve your existing Roon data, please follow the repair procedure below instead.

If you do not need to retain your existing Roon data or backup, you may continue with the following steps:

  1. Open VitOS Manager —> RoonServer.
  2. Select Uninstall, then Reinstall RoonServer.
  3. Verify that RoonServer is running version 2.71 (Build 1683).
  4. Open Roon and confirm that your device is discovered and playback is working properly.

Repair Procedure

  1. Update your Z1 Plus or Z1C firmware to VitOS 1.2.12268 and restart the device.
  2. Make sure your computer and device are connected to the same local network.
  3. Open a web browser and enter:Http://[device IP]/cgi/debug.cgi?ZROONSERVER271
    Replace [device IP] with the actual IP address of your Z1 Plus or Z1C.
  4. Wait approximately 10 seconds. The repair is complete when the page returns.
  5. Open Roon and confirm that your device is detected and playback is working properly.
  6. Verify that RoonServer is running version 2.71.

What’s Included

This update adapts the Z1 to the new RoonServer 2.71 architecture and resolves the compatibility issue that prevented the new version of RoonServer from starting.

The update also optimizes switching between Roon and other audio sources, as well as audio device management.

Upgrade Instructions

  1. Open Vitos Manager on your phone and go to Settings. Check for the new firmware update.
  2. Complete the firmware upgrade and restart the Z1.
  3. Open Vitos Manager → Roon Server → Uninstall → Reinstall.
  4. Confirm that RoonServer is running version 2.71 (Build 1683) and verify that the Z1 is discovered and playback is working normally.

For Users Who Have Already Upgraded to RoonServer 2.71

If you previously upgraded from RoonServer 2.0 to 2.71 and RoonServer is unable to start, but you need to preserve your existing Roon data/backups, do not uninstall and reinstall RoonServer.

Instead, follow these repair steps:

  1. First upgrade the Z1 firmware to Vitos-1.2.12327 and restart the device.
  2. Make sure your computer and Z1 are connected to the same local network.
  3. Open a web browser and enter:

http://[DEVICE-IP]/cgi/debug.cgi?ZROONSERVER271

Replace [DEVICE-IP] with the actual IP address of your Z1.

  1. Wait approximately 10 seconds. When the page returns, the repair is complete.
  2. Open the Roon client and confirm that the Z1 is discovered and playback is working normally. Confirm that RoonServer is running version 2.71.

Important Reminder

Users who need to preserve their existing Roon data/backups should use the repair procedure above.

Users who do not need to preserve their existing Roon data can simply use Vitos Manager to uninstall and reinstall RoonServer.
